Michael specialises
in commercial law and intellectual property (both contentious and non-contentious),
including trade marks, patents, copyright, designs and confidential information. Michael
also undertakes information technology, e-commerce and entertainment work.
He graduated in law from the University of Kent and also obtained a PhD in law. Michael
taught law for five years, at the Universities of Hertfordshire and Hull, and rose to the
position of senior lecturer. He sat his Law Society Finals at Birmingham Polytechnic in
1988 and worked with a large Birmingham practice for five years before joining KJD in 1994
as a solicitor. In 1995 he was appointed to associate level and became a partner in 1998.
Michael is an associate member of the Chartered
Institute of Patent Agents and the Institute of Materials, and is a member of the
Institute of Clay Technology and the British Pottery Managers Association.
The Brands and Trademarks Insider's Guide to Legal Services 2000 identified Michael as a
"Leading Individual" in the field
The UK Legal Experts Guide 2003 identifies Michael as a leading expert in the information
technology sector.
